The new album is recorded, and should be ready with a little album art and mix session. I'm not one for self-promotion, but I think we can all agree it's been a long time coming. |

Great Goddamn. You could hear tumbleweeds going by on the music scene around here.
I'm going to go procure something resembling food. And then I'm getting to the recording studio. |

One of the antennae on my theremin was snapped in transit.
Somehow I doubt Craigslist will be of any use here. |

For God's sake, Burial's Untrue is not "just noise," and it's a travesty that record stores in the city don't carry one of the best UK Garage, neo-dub-two-step albums of all time.
In other news, I've broken my two-week run of not arguing with music clerks. I always tell myself I'm going to lock myself in a room with Rachmaninoff The Smiths playing nonstop after this sort of ridiculous thing happens, but I'm sure I'll emerge after a day or two: it has long been my belief that devotees of great music are gluttons for punishment.
Meanwhile, I hope everyone's registered to "vote." |

I take it this is the part where I affirm The Dawn Treaders' superiority over every single band at the upcoming fest. Cheers, everyone; it should be a good set of shows for all the die-hards making the trip. |

There is no resisting the jCherri trend any longer, much to my chagrin, so those of you that have been attending to my blog online may now have the dubious honor of receiving it on your phones. My, how the terribly underground have fallen (or is that risen? I never can keep them straight).
For our new audience members, I'm a musician of sorts with the band The Dawn Treaders (along with Jacqueline Noore and various other luminaries of our rag tag independent community--do please have a listen) continues with aplomb and great drama. Songwriting with such creative ~savants~ as my bandmates is easier than lying; the kernel of truth that generally precedes a song's concept lately has a power so great that even the most monotonous anecdote has irresistible momentum driving it to its conclusion. But then, that's how it works when things are at their best--constantly raising questions, answering them, and then beginning again.
Here I go, rambling about details again. What a good thing nerd-dom is back in vogue.

A worried man with a worried mind No one in front of me and nothing behind There's a woman on my lap and she's drinking champagne Got white skin, got assassin's eyes I'm looking up into the sapphire tinted skies I'm well dressed, waiting on the last train
Bridge #1: Standing on the gallows with my head in a noose Any minute now I'm expecting all hell to break loose
Chorus People are crazy and times are strange I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range I used to care, but things have changed
This place ain't doing me any good I'm in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood Just for a second there I thought I saw something move Gonna take dancing lessons do the jitterbug rag Ain't no shortcuts, gonna dress in drag Only a fool in here would think he's got anything to prove
Bridge #2 Lot of water under the bridge, Lot of other stuff too Don't get up gentlemen, I'm only passing through
(chorus)
I've been walking forty miles of bad road If the bible is right, the world will explode I've been trying to get as far away from myself as I can Some things are too hot to touch The human mind can only stand so much You can't win with a losing hand
Bridge #3 Feel like falling in love with the first woman I meet Putting her in a wheel barrow and wheeling her down the street
(chorus)
I hurt easy, I just don't show it You can hurt someone and not even know it The next sixty seconds could be like an eternity Gonna get low down, gonna fly high All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie I'm in love with a woman who don't even appeal to me
Bridge #4 Mr. Jinx and Miss Lucy, they jumped in the lake I'm not that eager to make a mistake
(chorus) |
